Damage Policy
Damage Policy
At Travopac, we take pride in crafting durable, high-quality luggage that can withstand the demands of travel. However, we understand that accidents can happen, especially during airline travel. Here’s how to handle damage to your Travopac luggage caused by airlines, and what to expect from the claims process.
Airline Damage
Our Travopac luggage goes through rigorous testing to ensure it performs under tough conditions. However, even the sturdiest bags are not indestructible.
Imagine you’re waiting at the baggage carousel, only to spot the contents of someone’s suitcase scattered around the belt—only to realize it’s yours. While we hope this never happens to you, should your Travopac luggage suffer airline damage, follow these steps:
Inspect Your Bag Immediately: When collecting your luggage from the carousel, give it a quick inspection before leaving the airport. Look for major damage like cracks, tears, broken handles, wheels, or missing pieces.
Report Damage: Many airlines have a limited time window for reporting damage, so it’s best to check your bag at the airport. If you find damage later, you may still have the option to report it, but addressing it immediately is recommended.
Document the Damage: Take clear photos of the damage, preferably with airport surroundings in the background to show where and when the damage occurred.
Visit the Airline Baggage Counter: Head to the airline’s baggage services counter, usually located near the carousels. The airline will ask you to fill out a damage report. Make sure to obtain a receipt or reference number and a contact number for follow-up.
Record Information: Keep track of important details such as the time and place of the incident, your flight number, the name of the staff member who assisted you, and any advice they provided for next steps.
Emergency Bags: If your luggage is severely damaged and cannot hold your belongings, ask the airline if they provide emergency replacement bags for immediate use.
General Airline Guidelines
Typically, airlines will not cover the following:
- Damage due to inherent product defects or quality issues.
- Normal wear and tear such as scratches and scuffs.
- Missing external items like locks, straps, or name tags.
- Damage from over-packing.
- Improperly packed items, including fragile or valuable goods.
- Fragile, valuable, or perishable items unless otherwise required by law.
This is not a comprehensive list, so be sure to review the specific policies of the airline you are traveling with.
After Lodging a Claim
Once you’ve filed your claim with the airline:
- You will be directed to an Authorised Repair Centre for a full assessment of the damage.
- The repair centre will provide you with an Assessment Report and an Airline Damage Letter that outlines the cost of repairs (if any) and the original retail price (RRP) of the suitcase.
- Take the report back to the airline to process the claim.

We aim to make your travel experience as smooth as possible, and we hope these guidelines help resolve any unfortunate incidents with your luggage swiftly.
